Introducing Call Paul: Business as (Un)usual
Paul: Hey listener, this is Paul Jarvis, the host of Call Paul, business as UNusual. I’ve been a small business entrepreneur for the last 21 years, so I’m used to rolling with the punches of running a company. That said, this pandemic is a change unlike anything myself or anyone else has ever really seen. In this podcast, we’re going to do our best to have thoughtful conversations about the changing terrain and what it means for business owners who are facing all of this.
Dan: Hey, is this Paul?
Paul: It is indeed,
Dan: How are you guys?
Paul: That’s a loaded question.
Dan: Yeah, for sure.
Tim: One of the reasons I sew in the first place is because of my grandparents, and they lived through the depression and people are already comparing the economic backlash of what’s happening.
Katherine: We found out today, a big piece of the equipment that we are waiting to arrive, it was coming from China.
Paul: We started recording the show when the pandemic hit the West, and it was the elephant in the room that kept getting larger... So we’ve shifted this podcast, pretty much in real-time, to become a show about how businesses are adapting and evolving and where we are seeing bright spots in humanity.
Matt: We just sort of had this belief that we would figure out a way to make it work.
Dave: I’ve had to fire up a new supply chain in four days, and two of those days were the weekend.
Dan: We have decided we are going to pay everybody’s paycheck out of pocket. I’d rather go out of business doing the right thing than stay in business doing the wrong thing.
Paul: As business owners, we obviously need to keep making money, but this is a really weird place for us all to be in. I truly believe that entrepreneurs get into business to solve problems, and right now, there are a lot more problems than solutions, which means, this is a moment in time when business owners can adapt, shine, and do what they do best.
